The Arts & Science Council announced the lineup and schedule for the 2017 Connect with Culture Day on January 28. The all-day event and initiative provides an opportunity for the Charlotte community to experience more than 20 cultural experiences around the city for free, showcasing a diverse selection of arts, science, history, and food. All of the Museums at Levine Center for the Arts (Bechtler, Gantt, and Mint Museum) will offer free admission with a wide-range of events happening around the city. Some of the highlights include a Crazy Catapults exhibit by Discovery Place at Free Range Brewing, A Musical Petting Zoo at Matthews Community Center, printmaking and stop animation at ASC, pottery classes at Clayworks, and much more.
“Connect with Culture Day is about providing residents across Charlotte and Mecklenburg County with access to high quality arts, science and history programming close to home and multiple opportunities to sample what the cultural community has to offer,” said ASC President Robert Bush. “Everyone deserves to experience arts and culture regardless of where they live or what they can afford. ASC’s 3rd annual Connect with Culture Day is one way of making our cultural community more accessible.
In addition to the exhibits, workshops, and activities, there will be a “Taste of the World” event at the Charlotte Museum of History featuring Lang Van, La Shish, Mama’s Caribbean, Las Delicias Bakery, Midwood Smokehouse, and more.
The ASC’s first Connect with Culture day took place on January 10, 2015 and the organization continues to be a major resource and hub for the region’s Cultural Community. The day’s events will give the opportunity for all Charlotteans to experience a multitude of activities and events, for all ages, while connecting with their passions and discovering something new.
