Can I get an encore? Surprise Jay Z addition to ACL Festival with The Killers, Gorillaz, and Chance The Rapper

On Thursday morning, Austin City Limits Festival (ACL) announced their much-anticipated 2017 lineup. Far from a coming-of-age festival, ACL was founded in 2002 and inspired by the PBS concert series, Austin City Limits. Growing into one of the premiere music festivals in the country offering a diverse lineup of acts and increasing number of experiences at the two-day multiple week festival that takes place at Zilker Park in Austin, TX.

The original lineup posted around 8 a.m. included The Killers, Gorillaz, Chance The Rapper, Ryan Adams, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The XX, Run The Jewels, and many more. Pretty impressive lineup, right? With a well balanced group of acts that spread through multiple genres, it’s politics as usual for C3 Presents, the company behind ACL, Lollapalooza and several notable festivals across the country. Weekend one or weekend two? We’re definitely feelin’ it. Take my money please.

But wait. At 3 p.m. (EST) ACL app subscribers received a message from the festival that said “Now, can I get an encore? Do you want more?”

What does this mean? Can I get a…….. explanation? Streets is talking.

After several major music publications announced the lineup in the morning, it became apparent there was another addition to the lineup.

Could it be? In my lifetime, I have never seen an announcement like this. With so many heavyweight artists already on the bill, could it be possible for ACL to round up enough Dead Presidents to add Brooklyn’s finest?

And around 5 p.m. (EST), it happened.

S. Carter a.k.a. Jay Z will be headlining ACL Fest 2017 with The Killers, Gorillaz, Chance The Rapper, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more.
