Elton John is a singer-songwriter, pianist, and composer who has sold more than 300 million records with more than fifty Top 40 hits, as well as seven consecutive number-one albums in the US.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992. Elton John was also appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1995 for his charitable work, and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in February of 1998.
