Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jason Isbell will perform two nights in Charlotte with Adia Victoria at Ovens Auditorium.
Isbell is best known for his solo work with his band The 400 Unit, and as a former member of Drive-By Truckers for six years (2001 to 2007). Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit released their seventh studio album, Reunions, on May 8, 2020.
Adia Victoria is a singer-songwriter born in South Carolina and currently based in Nashville. Victoria has released three studio albums: Beyond the Bloodhounds in 2016, Silences in 2019, and A Southern Gothic in 2021. Rolling Stone describes her as “PJ Harvey covering Loretta Lynn at a haunted debutante ball.”
With A Southern Gothic, Adia continues her journey through the conflicts of the American South and the troubling resonance of its past. Sonically, the album is full of frequent juxtaposition. It is equal parts historical montage and modern prophesy, dark and light, love and loathing. The 11 tracks are the musical embodiment of the relationship that so many people, especially Black women, have with the South. The album was executive produced by T Bone Burnett and co-produced by Adia and Mason Hickman. A Southern Gothic also features guest appearances by Jason Isbell, Margo Price, Matt Beringer, and Kyshona Armstrong.
