Modern Moxie is the creative project of Madison Lucas (piano, synth, guitar, vocals), Harry Kollm (bass), Phil Pucci (lead guitar) and Charlie Weeks (drums) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Madison Lucas started writing music in college, mostly confined to her dorm room closet recording demos on her macbook. In 2011, she self-released her first body of work the bedroom, an electronic pop/rock EP recorded at Archer Avenue Studios in Columbia, SC. It found success locally through radio stations including WKZQ, WEND and WXRY (NC/SC). In 2012 she moved to Charlotte and began playing open mics and shows to promote the bedroom. One of these open mics, The Evening Muse in Charlotte’s art district, had the largest impact. It provided a safe place for stage-fright ridden Madison to network with other artists, collaborate, and practice her live show. Over time, she began playing her own gigs and festivals with a backing band.
In 2018 Phil Pucci (Serfs, Landless, Pullover) and Charlie Weeks joined to complete the band. They are currently playing shows, writing and recording their debut LP Claw Your Way Out set to release in 2019.
