Pearl & the Oysters are a French-American indie synth-rock duo influenced by classic the French pop music of the ’60s, and its revival with bands like Stereolab in the ’90s. Now based in Los Angeles and signed to famed independent record label, Stones Throw, the duo consisting of Joachim Polack and Juliette Davis released their latest album, Coast 2 Coast, in April.
Ari Blaisdell and Matt Jones are System Exclusive, an indie-pop Pasadena, California duo with a hint of post-punk.
La Brava is the solo project of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Liza Ortiz from Bravo Pueblo and Chocala. La Brava’s psychedelic live sets are a transportive experience made even more fun by Ortiz’s powerful, reverberated vocals that ring out over Latin-inspired beats. Although La Brava’s sound is crafted on an electronic synth and drum machine, the compositions and Ortiz’s amiable energy bring an unexpected affection and warmth to the computerized tones.
