Without aping the classics, but built from the same DNA, Temperance League’s sophomore slab reminds us that heart-felt rock & roll songs don’t care how old or famous you are – only that you mean it. – John Schacht
The Loose Lugnuts have done perhaps more than anyone in recent years to keep old-school Country and Western alive and happening on the Charlotte music scene. Led by brothers Mark and Brian Wilson, the Lugnuts have an amazing repertoire of C&W classics spanning the genre’s golden era, “from Hank Sr. to Hank Jr.” as singer Mark Wilson has been known to say, which is to imply: strictly “pre-commercial” C&W. And, as they prove on their 2010 vinyl/digital release “Half Tight,” the band also boasts a strong original catalog, and lays it down with greater authority and confidence than the title might suggest.
