A holiday event for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker celebrates their 10th anniversary this season returning to Charlotte’s Knight Theater. The contemporary hip-hop dance spectacle re-mixes and re-imagines Tchaikovksy’s timeless music featuring hip-hop founding father Kurtis Blow, a powerhouse cast of all-star dancers, a live DJ, violinist, and more.
Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, just like the original, Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince go on a dream adventure battling a gang of mice, visiting the land of sweets and learning the lessons of the holiday season. Digital graffiti and visuals transform the landscape of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s beloved story from traditional 19th Century Germany to the modern streets of New York City.
