A holiday dance and musical mash-up for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker returns to Charlotte’s Knight Theater. Directed and choreographed by Tony and Olivier Award-nominated Jennifer Weber (& Juliet and KPOP), the contemporary hip-hop dance spectacle is a remixed and reimagined version of the original Nutcracker. Combining hip-hop dance and Tchaikovsky’s timeless music, The Hip Hop Nutcracker is brought to life by a stellar cast of all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and the legendary MC Kurtis Blow, who opens the show with a short set.
Innovative digital graffiti and visuals transform the backdrop from traditional 19th Century Germany to the vibrant, diverse sights and sounds of modern day New York City.
