The Outcome, a party to celebrate the closing of the summer 2019 artist residency season at McColl Center. Come see what artists-in-residence Chris Clamp, Troy Dugas, Lauren Rosenthal McManus, Carmen Neely, s/n (Jennida Chase and Hassan Pitts), and Gregory Thielker have been working on during their residencies.

Music by DJ TOBER playing downtempo and acid jazz electronica, a beer and wine bar.

Create a Collaborative Textile Artwork
(Dickson Gallery, First floor)
Following alumna and exhibiting artist Susannah Mira’s artistic practice of using recycled materials, all of the fabric pieces used in this hands-on art making activity are remnants sourced from the Charlotte region’s textile industry.

Devadasi_NOW documentary clips by alumna artist Indrani Gall

Alumna artist Indrani Gall screens clips from her documentary, Devadasi_NOW—a creative non-fiction work/documentary on the challenges of eradicating Devadasi tradition, an illegal practice that throws young girls within poverty-stricken Dalit (untouchable) communities of northern Karnataka, India, into prostitution in the name of religion.

Works from Creating Poetry At McColl Center
(First, second, and third floors)
Participants from our summer workshop series Creating Poetry at McColl Center will present their poems, each inspired by a work of art by the summer artists-in-residence. Be on the lookout for pop-up performances or written displays of the poems near the inspiring artwork.

Poets: José G. Vázquez inspired by Chris Clamp’s artwork, Justin Evans inspired by Troy Dugas’ artwork, Jennifer Parker inspired by Lauren Rosenthal McManus’ artwork, Lydia Collier inspired by Gregory Thielker’s artwork, Kurma Murrain inspired by Carmen Neely’s artwork.
