Brave Entertainment presents a special lineup of music featuring Tweet, The Hamiltones, Cyanca, and The XMen. Hosted by Quentin Talley the evening will also feature the music stylings of DJ Fannie Mae in between sets.
Back in the early 2000s Missy Elliott and Timbaland introduced vocalist and songwriter Tweet (Charlene Keys) with Missy’s “Take Away” and “X.” Her debut album, Southern Hummingbird, featured production by Timbaland and vocals by Elliott, most notably on, “Oops (Oh My).” It’s Me Again was released in 2005 and reached number two on the R&B chart. Tweet released an EP, Simply Tweet, in 2013 and her third album, Charlene, on the eOne label in 2016.
“The Hamiltones are a soulful representation of the Carolinas that continue the history of R&B music following the trail of Anthony Hamilton and K-Ci & JoJo. The music industry landscape may have changed drastically since their days, but you can find traits in J. Vito, 2E, and Lelo that remind you of a simpler time in the Carolinas, when genuine laughs and tenderness were just as fulfilling as “likes” are now on social media. There’s a sense of family that, in the beginning may have not felt like a brotherhood, but ultimately lead to The Hamiltones becoming North Carolina’s favorite musical sons.” – Cameron Lee, CLTure
“Charlotte’s own alternative R&B/neo-soul artist, Cyanca, flashes a charming glimpse of where she’s at artistically in her latest EP I’m Staying Home.
Overall, in a bite-sized listen, Cyanca managed to make good use of three short tracks, in which she opens up and lets the listener in on a private glimpse of her life. This level of comfort in vulnerability is crucial for any artist and Cyanca does well at mining her innermost self for the nuggets of truth that listeners can relate to.” – Jose Mujica, CLTure
