Charlotte singer-songwriter Michael Tracy got the call of his life on Tuesday when Jon Bon Jovi reached out personally to tell him the news that he will be opening for him in Greenville, South Carolina on February 8.
Tracy, who said in the phone call that he’s only been pursuing music professionally for the last four years was calmly ecstatic. He self-produced his debut album Gonna Smile in 2015 and is now ready to take his career to the next level.
Earlier in January, Bon Jovi announced on Facebook an opening act contest to give bands the chance to open an arena date for his This House Is Not For Sale Tour. To enter the competition, thousands of bands uploaded audition videos on his official website and on Facebook. Live Nation narrowed down the search and chose 10 finalists. Bon Jovi’s management selected the contest winner from a shortlist.
Artists can still submit their videos for March 1 – April 11 show dates. The submission deadline for Round Three (March 1-March 8 show dates) is February 1 at 12 p.m. PST.
