Fayetteville’s J.Cole released his latest album, The Off-Season on Friday, and while the project has received instant acclaim from fans across the world, it may not be the most eventful part of Cole’s weekend.

On May 10, ESPN’s Marc J. Spears reported that Cole would be playing in the Basketball Africa League for the Rwanda Patriots BBC. The Athletic’s Shams Charania followed by reporting that Cole signed to the upstart league to play three to six games, the first of which is on Sunday against the Nigeria River Hoopers.

In a video shared by the official Rwanda Patriots BBC Instagram account, Cole is seen practicing with the team, and on Friday he was confirmed on the roster from the Basketball Africa League’s official Twitter account as Jermaine Cole, listed as No. 15.

Joined by former NC State forward Brandon Costner, who also signed to the team, Cole will bring much-needed attention to the Basketball Africa League, a joint effort between the NBA and FIBA with sponsorship from Nike, Air Jordan and Pepsi.

The game, according to ESPN.com, will air on Sunday, May 16 at 10 a.m. EST on ESPN News and ESPN+.
