Celebrate the spirit of jazz at The Bill Hanna Legacy Jazz Session, every Monday night at Petra’s. A tribute to the late, great Bill Hanna, who was widely known as the godfather of Charlotte jazz. The weekly event brings together some of the city’s best musicians for a night of improvisational performances.

Charlotte-based collective Menastree returns to The Evening Muse this week, bringing their unique fusion of hip-hop, jazz, and R&B. Formed in late 2014 by Jesse Lemar Williams, DJ Lil Tone, and vocalist Jeremy Mayher, the group has since expanded into a powerhouse lineup featuring Braxton Bateman, Zach Wheeler, Malcolm Charles, Wenisha Massey, Curt Keyz, Stefan Kallander, and Marcus Jones. Known for electrifying live shows built on improvisation and groove, Menastree seamlessly blends multiple genres into a sound that’s all their own.

Memphis alt-country rock band Lucero, fronted by singer-songwriter Ben Nichols, celebrates the 20th anniversary of their 2005 album Nobody’s Darlings. The band will perform the album in its entirety, along with hits from their catalog. Their most recent studio album, Should’ve Learned By Now (2023), earned praise from Pitchfork and Paste Magazine, and they followed it with an acoustic project in early 2025. They’ll be joined by indie folk-rock artist Jessica Lea Mayfield, who is touring in support of her new EP, Choose Myself, released in April.

Charlotte-based soul/R&B singer-songwriter, producer, and engineer Jason Jet will perform a lunchtime concert at Duke Energy Plaza. Jet, who recently released a new single, “California Dreaming,” in May, is also the founder of Grindhaus Studios. Presented by The Gantt and Duke Energy, Live on the Plaza is a free series of performances designed to transform Uptown into an artful soundscape and landscape.

Baltimore-born, New York City-based stand-up comedian and writer Sahib Singh will perform multiple shows at The Comedy Club at Duckworth’s this week. Named Magooby’s New Comedian of the Year in 2019, Singh is known for his sharp, dry delivery and incisive cultural commentary. He has shared the stage with Hasan Minhaj, Whitney Cummings, Mark Normand, and more, and his work has been featured on CBS Comedy Showcase, Adult Swim, and Comedy Central. Singh has also built a large TikTok following with his satirical takes on masculinity, dating, and Gen Z life.
