Netflix released the trailer for season 3 of Cobra Kai now making its debut on January 1, 2021. The series continuation of the original Karate Kid film that takes place 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, finds Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) as a successful businessman, while his adversary Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) seeks redemption reopening the Cobra Kai dojo.
In a strange role reversal, it’s difficult at times to decipher the “good guy” and “bad guy” in Cobra Kai as Lawrence’s down-and-out nature is easy to sympathize with and Larusso’s history in the film franchise is so likable. When you add in family drama and the next generation of karate enthusiasts, mixed with the sweet nostalgia of the ‘80s, Cobra Kai is a strikingly entertaining series.
Originally airing on YouTube as premium content, Cobra Kai’s first free episode has amassed over 97 million views on the platform. Now, the third season of the former YouTube original will launch on Netflix January 1 with a fourth season already confirmed.
Update 12/14: Watch the trailer for Cobra Kai season 3 now premiering on Netflix January 1, 2021.
