Netflix has announced the official date for season 3 of Cobra Kai. The continuation of the original Karate Kid films that takes place 30 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, the series finds Daniel Larusso (Ralph Macchio) as a successful businessman, while his adversary Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) seeks redemption reopening the Cobra Kai dojo.

In a strange role reversal, it’s difficult at times to decipher the “good guy” and “bad guy” in Cobra Kai as Lawrence’s down-and-out nature is easy to sympathize with and Larusso’s history in the films is so likable. When you add in family drama and the next generation of karate enthusiasts mixed with the sweet nostalgia of the ‘80s, Cobra Kai is a strikingly entertaining series.

Originally airing on YouTube as premium content, Cobra Kai’s first free episode has amassed over 92 million views on the platform. Now, the third season of the former YouTube original will launch on Netflix January 8 with a fourth season already confirmed.

In the season 3 teaser we see Cobra Kai dojo star Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) survive an epic school brawl between the two rival camps culminating from a whirlwind of dramatic events.

Watch the teaser for Cobra Kai season 3 out on Netflix January 8, 2021.
