5th & York are a North Carolina-based smooth jazz band with influences ranging from the Yellow Jackets and Fourplay to the great funk bands of the ’70s and ’80s. They have opened for renowned national recording artists such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Anthony Hamilton, and Gerald Levert, and performed at events such as Sunset Jazz Festival and Fall for Greenville Festival. The band consists of Mike Baker (keyboards), Derwin Friday (saxophone), Dewarren Tate (bass), Johnny Gilliard (drums), Derrick Friday (guitar), and Tra Sauls-Mason (vocals).
