The 11-time Tony Award-winning musical, Hamilton, returns to Charlotte’s Belk Theater. The epic saga that follows the rise of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, is set to a backdrop of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and traditional Broadway music, written and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Based on historian Ron Chernow’s acclaimed biography of Alexander Hamilton, the musical tells the story of Hamilton’s rise from an impoverished immigrant to a key figure in the Revolutionary War and the nation’s early government.

With direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, the production has made a profound cultural, political, educational, and social impact. In addition to winning 11 Tony Awards (including Best Musical), Hamilton won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album, seven Olivier Awards, a Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and Kennedy Center Honors in 2018.
