Celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend in Charlotte with renowned hometown saxophonist Adrian Crutchfield, as he honors the legendary Grover Washington Jr. Crutchfield and his band will perform hits from Washington’s Grammy Award-winning album Winelight and the 1975 classic Mister Magic.
Crutchfield, who toured and recorded with Prince and the New Power Generation as leader of its 11-piece horn section from 2012 to 2016, has also performed alongside Branford Marsalis, Lionel Richie, Ceelo Green, and Bette Midler throughout out his career.
Best known for his collaborations with Bill Withers on the iconic track Just the Two of Us, Patti LaBelle on “The Best Is Yet to Come,” and Phyllis Hyman on “A Sacred Kind of Love,” Washington is widely regarded as one of the founding pioneers of the smooth jazz/R&B sound.
