Coming off the release of their 2024 album, Daniel, New Jersey indie rockers (currently based in Brooklyn) Real Estate return to Charlotte’s Neighborhood Theatre this week. Led by singer-songwriter and guitarist Martin Courtney (vocals, guitar) with Alex Bleeker (bass, vocals), Matt Kallman (keyboards), Julian Lynch (guitar), and Sammi Niss (drums), the band is known for their mellow blend of indie rock and jangle pop with influences of 60s folk. They have released six studio albums: Real Estate (2009), Days (2011), Atlas (2014), In Mind (2017), The Main Thing (2020), and Daniel (2024).
Daniel, the band’s sixth studio album was produced by Daniel Tashian, who is best known for his work with Kacey Musgraves on the Grammy Award-winning album, Golden Hour. It was recorded in Nashville over two weeks, and it’s the first album with drummer Sammi Niss, who joined the band in 2020.
Grumpy is the Brooklyn-based indie rock project of Charlotte native singer-songwriter Mason (Heaven) Schmitt. The band released their debut album, Loser, in 2020, and a new EP, Wolfed, in October.
