Following the release of his eighth studio album, Chromakopia, Tyler, the Creator will bring his world tour to Charlotte’s Spectrum Center this month. The rapper, who first gained prominence as the leader of the alternative hip-hop collective Odd Future, Chromakopia follows 2019’s Igor and 2021’s Call Me If You Get Lost, both of which won the Grammy for Best Rap Album. Also highly influential in the fashion world, he is the founder of the clothing lines Golf Wang and Le Fleur, and has collaborated with major brands such as Louis Vuitton, Lacoste, and Converse. In addition, he launched the music festival Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in 2012. Chromakopia topped the Billboard charts upon its release, continuing to push artistic boundaries in hip-hop as his most sonically adventurous album to date.
Atlanta rapper Lil Yachty is coming off his 2024 collaboration album with James Blake, Bad Cameo, released in June, and 2023’s Let’s Start Here, a departure from his usual pop-rap stylings in favor of a more psychedelic rock approach. His collective, Concrete Boys, also released a compilation mixtape, It’s Us Vol. 1, last year.
Los Angeles alternative rap duo Paris Texas, consisting of rapper/producers Slim (Paris) and Beanie (Texas), will open the show. The duo released their debut album Mid Air in 2023, along with two mixtapes, They Left Me with the Sword and They Left Me with a Gun, in February.
