Two of North Carolina’s biggest musical artists will play homecoming shows in the state next year, with performances at Spectrum Center in Charlotte on January 26, Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville on May 1, and First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro on May 2. This marks the first time since 2016 that the two Grammy Award-winning artists will share the same stage on tour in North Carolina.

Anthony Hamilton, who first gained national attention with his 2002 feature on Nappy Roots’ “Po’ Folks,” released his debut studio album Comin’ from Where I’m From in 2003. Featuring the hit single “Charlene” and the title track, the album debuted at No. 33 on the Billboard 200, earned platinum certification, and garnered three Grammy Award nominations: Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Song (“Comin’ from Where I’m From”), and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“Charlene”).

Fantasia Barrino, the High Point, North Carolina native who rose to fame as the winner of American Idol’s third season, is coming off her celebrated role as Celie in the 2023 musical film adaptation of The Color Purple. Her performance earned her an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actress and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy.

Barrino’s most recent studio album, Sketchbook, was released in 2019, while Hamilton’s latest project, Love Is the New Black, arrived in September 2021.

Presale for the tour dates begins Wednesday, August 13 at 10 a.m., with general tickets on sale Friday, August 15 at 10 a.m.
