North Carolina music legends and Grammy Award-winning singers Fantasia and Anthony Hamilton will share the stage for a co-headlining homecoming tour stop in Charlotte on Friday, January 23, at Spectrum Center.
Fantasia, who launched her career in 2004 as the winner of American Idol, became one of R&B’s most recognizable voices of the 2000s, known for her soulful vocals and emotive performances. She is coming off her acclaimed portrayal of Celie in the 2023 movie musical adaptation of The Color Purple, a performance that earned her an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Motion Picture and a Golden Globe nomination. Over the years, Fantasia has released multiple platinum-selling albums, including Free Yourself, Back to Me, and The Definition Of…, and has scored several charting hits such as “I Believe,” “Truth Is,” “Lose to Win,” and “When I See U.” In 2025, she was featured on the “Boots on the Ground (Remix)” with 803Fresh.
Anthony Hamilton, a Charlotte native, began his career in the late ’90s writing for artists like Donell Jones (“U Know What’s Up”) and providing backup vocals for the late D’Angelo. He broke through to mainstream audiences singing the chorus on Nappy Roots’ “Po’ Folks” in 2002, earning a Grammy nomination for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. His 2003 album Comin’ From Where I’m From brought him widespread acclaim, featuring hits like “Charlene,” “I’m a Mess,” and the title track. Hamilton’s latest full-length album, Love Is the New Black, arrived in 2021, followed by a collaborative poetry project, Pages, with actor Omari Hardwick (Power) in 2025.
