Pop star Halsey has announced an expansive U.S. tour with an unexpected supporting act: Canadian shoegaze/dream rockers Alvvays. The dates will include two stops in North Carolina — Charlotte on May 28 at PNC Music Pavilion and Raleigh on May 29 at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.
Halsey is coming off her fifth studio album, The Great Impersonator, released in October, co-produced by Alex G, Michael Uzowuru (SZA, Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs), Greg Kurstin (Kylie Minogue, Sia, Maren Morris), Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus), and Emile Haynie (Kid Cudi, Eminem, Lana Del Rey). She envisioned the album as a deeply confessional concept piece, believing it might be her final project after being diagnosed with lupus and a T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Halsey last performed in the Carolinas during her Love and Power Tour in 2022 (Charlotte).
Juno Award-winning dream-pop band Alvvays rose to prominence with their self-titled debut album in 2014, driven by the success of “Archie, Marry Me,” an indie anthem that cemented their place in the genre. Their 2017 follow-up, Antisocialites, earned the coveted Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year and featured standout tracks like “Dreams Tonite” and “In Undertow.” After a five-year hiatus, the band returned in 2022 with Blue Rev, produced by Shawn Everett (The War on Drugs, Kacey Musgraves). Alvvays last played a sold-out show in Charlotte at The Underground in May and performed at Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh in 2023.
They’ll be joined by rising British R&B/neo-soul artist Hope Tala, best known for her songs “Lovestained,” “All My Girls Like to Fight,” and “Cherries.”
Halsey also released a video to announce the upcoming For My Last Trick Tour. Artist presale will begin Wednesday, February 19 at 10 a.m. with tickets going on sale to the public Friday, February 21 at 10 a.m.
