Electronic/synth-pop music pioneers, Kraftwerk, are returning to North America in 2025 to celebrate their classic 1974 album, Autobahn, and the 50th anniversary of their first U.S. tour in 1975. The 25-city tour will kick off in Philadelphia on March 6 and stop in Charlotte on March 17 at Ovens Auditorium. The multimedia production, led by Kraftwerk founding member Ralf Hütter, will be a fusion of music, visuals, and performance art.
Formed in Düsseldorf in 1970 by Hütter and Florian Schneider, Kraftwerk pioneered synth-pop music utilizing electronic instrumentation (synthesizers, drum machines, and vocoders) with the release of Autobahn. The Recording Academy recognized their legacy with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014 and they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021.
The band made the tour announcement with a video featuring skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, who is a lifelong fan of band. Earlier this year, Kraftwerk celebrated the 50th anniversary of Autobahn with a nine-night residency at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. They last performed in North Carolina at Moogfest in 2014.
Presale for the tour will begin on Wednesday, December 11 at 10 a.m. with tickets going on sale to the public on Friday, December 13 at 10 a.m.
