Longtime friends and Texas natives Leon Bridges and Charley Crockett are joining forces for a run of co-headlining U.S. tour dates. Dubbed The Crooner & The Cowboy Tour, it will kick off in June, making stops in Raleigh on September 12 at Red Hat Amphitheater and Charleston on September 13 at Credit One Stadium.
Bridges, the Grammy Award-winning soul singer-songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas, broke out with his debut album Coming Home in 2015, delivering a vintage ’60s soul style with songs like “Better Man,” “Smooth Sailing,” “River,” and the title track. His sophomore release, Good Thing, debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and was nominated for Best R&B Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards, with the single “Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand” winning Best Traditional R&B Performance. Bridges has also collaborated with an array of esteemed artists across genres, including Kacey Musgraves, Anderson .Paak, Gary Clark Jr., Odesza, Jorja Smith, and most notably Khruangbin on the collaborative EPs Texas Sun (2020) and Texas Moon (2022). He released his latest album, Leon, in October, which was recorded in Mexico City and produced by Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian.
San Benito, Texas country-blues crooner Charley Crockett is coming off the release of his new album, Lonesome Drifter, on March 14, produced by Shooter Jennings. Having carved out a unique space in country music with his genre-blending style, drawing from honky-tonk, blues, soul, and Tejano influences, Crockett was nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year at the 2023 Americana Music Honors & Awards. He also received his first Grammy nomination for his 2024 release, $10 Cowboy.
Bridges recently shared on social media about his friendship with Crockett and their excitement for the upcoming tour.
“Me and Charley Crockett have been chasing this dream side by side for a decade. We grew up in this thing together. From the smallest clubs you can imagine — places where you could hear a pin drop, or sometimes, folks talkin’ over the music. But we kept on grinding. Now, to be able to share a stage together and bring this tour to big rooms and amphitheaters… man, it feels full circle,” Bridges shared.
Each night, they’ll perform their own full sets, delivering “50% crooner (Leon Bridges) and 50% cowboy (Charley Crockett).” The Raleigh and Charlotte shows will feature Reyna Tropical, the genre-bending musical project of Mexican-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Fabi Reyna, who is signed to Psychic Hotline — the Durham-based label founded by Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, along with their longtime manager, Martin Anderson.
Artist presale will begin on Tuesday, March 25 at 10 a.m. with tickets going on sale to the public on Friday, March 28 at 10 a.m.
