Come Hear NC, the music initiative developed by the North Carolina Arts Council, has followed up their focus on legendary Durham hip-hop group Little Brother with Homecoming. The next installment in the documentary series on the pioneering hip-hop trio directed by Holland Randolph Gallagher, it chronicles the reunion at the 2018 Art of Cool Festival in their hometown of Durham.

Homecoming highlights Durham, NC, where the birthplace of LB was served up for a chance reunion taking place where it all began in the early 2000s. The unannounced reunion came together in a matter of hours while scrambling for an act to replace Royce da 5’9″, who missed his flight for the Art of Cool Festival. The performance marked the first time the group had performed together in over a decade.

Through interviews with Phonte, 9th Wonder, Rapper Big Pooh, Questlove, Cicely Mitchell (Art of Cool founder), Sulaiman Mausi (Art of Cool / Dome Group), this short film explores the story behind the group’s estrangement and subsequent reunion.
