While local and federal authorities are recommending social distancing to flatten the curve of the Coronavirus, many musicians are also faced with cancelled shows throughout the country. While video games and Netflix are some of the popular ways to pass the time during these strange times, famous synthesizer company Moog– who also has a storefront in Asheville, North Carolina– has launched a free download for their Minimoog Model D iOS app. The mobile version of the first portable synthesizer allows users to play with over 160 presets or controls to explore a myriad of creative musical sounds.
Korg, the Japanese electronic musical instrument company is also offering a free download of their iKaossilator app until March 31 for iOS users and March 20 for Android.
