Blumenthal Performing Arts has announced its 2023-2024 Broadway season lineup

Blumenthal Performing Arts has announced a 2023-24 season packed with Broadway hits, classic musicals, and revivals. A bountiful mix of shows following last year’s impressive return to the stage for many touring productions. Ten-time Tony Award-winning jukebox musical, Moulin Rouge!, headlines the new season with 2022 Olivier Award-winner for Best New Musical, Back to the Future, making its debut in the region. Another highly anticipated production is the return of The Wiz, the iconic retelling of the children’s novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which will return to stages as a touring Broadway production for the first time in 40 years directed by Schele Williams (The Notebook, revival of Disney’s Aida). 

Theater lovers will also get a taste of the classics like Mamma Mia!, Peter Pan, The Lion King, and revivals like Stephen Sondheim’s Company, a musical that debuted in 1970 and set the record for most Tony Award nominations at the time. 

A new musical sure to charm theater-goers is Mrs. Doubtfire, the hilarious and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor trying to earn the respect of his kids by acting as their nanny. This, of course, is based on the 1993 film starring the late, great Robin Williams. 

Many of the shows in the 2023-24 season are exclusive to the region and will not only entertain Broadway enthusiasts in the Charlotte area, but draw many from outside of the city, making an impact on the local economy. 

“Fans from across the Carolinas and Tennessee will have the opportunity to travel to Charlotte for the chance to see these exclusive Broadway shows, further establishing Charlotte as a cultural destination in the region. The local economic impact of this type of tourism will be significant,” said Blumenthal President and CEO Tom Gabbard.

The PNC Broadway Lights Series season ticket will feature a package that includes seven or eight shows with passes starting at $290. You may also choose to swap some season tickets for Broadway Extras or any additional events coming to Blumenthal theaters during the year. PNC Broadway Lights Series season ticket holders will have the option of a 12-month extended payment plan and the ability to swap up to four season shows for anything coming the following season.

The Equitable Bravo Series offers a package of six shows starting at $245 with the option of a six-month payment plan. Equitable Bravo ticket holders may also swap up to two season shows for anything else coming to Blumenthal theaters, including PNC Broadway Lights Series shows.
