Brandon Miller is entering his fourth season as the Charlotte Hornets’ star shooting guard, and he’s looking to elevate his leadership not only on the court but also in the community, hosting his first-ever celebrity pickleball tournament, Paddle for Purpose. Open to the public, the event will feature special guests Kon Knueppel, Dell Curry, Muggsy Bogues, Charles Lee, and several of Miller’s Hornets teammates.

“Getting involved in the Charlotte community is incredibly important to me. This city welcomed my family and I, and we want to give back in meaningful ways beyond basketball,” said Miller. “Whether it’s supporting local organizations, mentoring young people, or simply being present, I want to make a positive impact.”

Held at Rally Pickleball in South End, attendees will enjoy a fun day of pickleball competitions with their favorite current and former Hornets players, along with food, music, silent auctions, raffles, and family-friendly activities, helping raise money for the Team Miller Foundation. Proceeds will support the foundation’s work empowering youth and families through sports and life-skills programming, providing food assistance to those in need, and funding their annual She’s a Bad Mammograma breast cancer awareness initiative.

Brandon’s mom, Yolanda, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and is now cancer-free. The foundation has made cancer awareness and mammogram accessibility two of their primary missions.

Brandon’s mother, Yolanda Miller — who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and is now cancer-free — has helped make breast cancer awareness and the importance of annual mammograms two of the nonprofit’s primary missions. In October 2025 on Breast Cancer Awareness Night at the Spectrum Center, Brandon invited 500 survivors to the Charlotte Hornets game, where Yolanda got to ring the survivorship bell for the first time.

Founded in June 2023, the Team Miller Foundation is a true family-led organization run by Brandon’s mother Yolanda, his father Darrell, sister Britany, aunt LaJuana, brother Darrell Jr., cousin Anne, and former AAU coach Tim Holloway. The nonprofit invites community members of all ages to participate individually or as teams for a day of friendly competition, connection, food, music, and networking.

All proceeds will support food assistance programs, health awareness events and screenings, educational resources, and scholarships for underserved and at-risk youth.

The Team Miller Foundation hosts basketball camps, organizes charity drives, and provides scholarships for underserved and at-risk youth.

The Brandon Miller Celebrity Pickleball Classic: Paddle for Purpose will take place on Saturday, August 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with individual registration priced at $125 and team registration (two players) priced at $250. Spectator tickets are also available for $75, allowing attendees to join the fun while supporting the cause.
