Jodeci, the pioneering Charlotte new jack swing and gospel-rooted R&B group, has announced a 35th anniversary tour celebrating their debut studio album, Forever My Lady, with a final stop at Ovens Auditorium on Saturday, December 19, for a special holiday season homecoming show.
The quartet — consisting of brothers Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey and Joel “JoJo” Hailey, along with Donald “DeVanté Swing” DeGrate and Dalvin “Mr. Dalvin” DeGrate — will bring their hits home to the Queen City, where the group was formed in the late ’80s.
Jodeci quickly became one of the most influential vocal groups of the ’90s, helping define the era’s new jack swing movement with colossal hits including “Come and Talk to Me,” “Stay,” and “Forever My Lady” from their 1991 debut album. Their follow-up release, Diary of a Mad Band, became their second No. 1 album on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts and featured contributions from Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Redman, and Erick Sermon.
After releasing their third studio album, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel, in 1995, the group entered a lengthy hiatus before returning in 2015 with The Past, the Present, the Future. Beyond Jodeci, brothers K-Ci and JoJo also found major success as a duo, earning multiple platinum records and scoring hits including “All My Life” and “Crazy” across five studio albums.
The 36-city U.S. tour will kick off in October and conclude with a hometown performance at Ovens Auditorium on Saturday, December 19. Jodeci last performed in Charlotte during the Summer Block Party Tour with SWV and Dru Hill in 2023.
The presale begins Thursday, July 30 at 10 a.m. with tickets going on sale to the general public Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m.
