With the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers have selected quarterback Bryce Young from Alabama. Awarded the prestigious Heisman Trophy in 2021, Young was also a winner of the Maxwell Award, Davey O’Brien Award, and AP College Football Player of the Year in 2021, passing for 4,872 yards with 47 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in his sophomore season. In his junior year, Young led the Crimson Tide to an 11-2 record passing for 3,328 yards, 32 passing touchdowns, and five interceptions in 12 games before announcing in January that he would forgo his senior season and enter the 2023 NFL Draft.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Young and his family moved to Pasadena, California at a young age prior to playing football at the famed Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. As a senior, he was the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year, California’s Gatorade Football Player of the Year, and the USA Today High School Offensive Player of the Year. A five-star recruit and the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the country coming out of high school, Young originally committed to USC before deciding to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
