The Charlotte Checkers have unveiled the official jerseys and merchandise for their first-ever outdoor hockey game at Truist Field in uptown Charlotte against the Rochester Americans on Saturday, January 13. Following the first professional outdoor NHL hockey game in North Carolina this past winter in Raleigh, the Queen City Outdoor Classic will transform Truist Field into a hockey stadium with a full regulation rink located between first and third base across the infield.
The special edition jerseys are a hybrid of those worn by the Checkers in the ’50s and ’70s, featuring a red and white color scheme with a baseball-style font donning “Checkers” across the front and the official event logo on the shoulders. The Checkers also released a Queen City Outdoor Classic jersey-inspired baseball shirt ($25) that is available for purchase today. The jerseys can be pre-ordered ($150) from now until September 25, shipping out in early January, right in time for the historic game.
The Checkers and Charlotte Knights also announced that tickets for the Queen City Outdoor Classic will go on sale to the general public on Monday, October 16.
