Charlotte enters the season riding the momentum of its first Summer League Championship, led by No. 4 overall draft pick Kon Knueppel, alongside strong contributions from KJ Simpson and rookies Liam McNeeley, Ryan Kalkbrenner, and Sion James. The team also added veteran guard Collin Sexton in a trade with Utah, providing much-needed experience in the backcourt, while Tre Mann returns after a back injury limited him to just 13 games last season. With LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller fully recovered from injuries, Knueppel’s added range and consistency on both ends of the floor, Moussa Diabaté’s high-energy athleticism and defense, and Kalkbrenner emerging as a promising rim protector capable of meaningful NBA minutes, the Hornets boast more depth than they’ve had in several years. The team is poised to build on last season’s 19-win, injury-plagued campaign and aims to secure a playoff berth for the first time since 2015-16 in Coach Charles Lee’s second full season. The first 12,000 fans in attendance on Wednesday night will also receive a limited-edition Hornets 2025-26 schedule T-shirt.

Tickets: $214 plus (Gametime: $183 plus)

Coming off their first three-game winning streak since early 2021 following a 13-6 victory over the Jets, the Panthers will face the 4-2 Buffalo Bills in a pivotal early-season matchup, with both teams vying for the top spot in their divisions. Carolina’s defense was dominant last week, recording six sacks and two highlight-reel interceptions by Jaycee Horn, while Derrick Brown was in All-Pro form, posting seven tackles, two sacks, and three pass deflections. The Panthers face a tough challenge against a hungry Bills team coming off a bye week after consecutive losses to the Patriots and Falcons. Charlotte has long had a sizable contingent of northern New York transplants rooting for Buffalo, and the team is jokingly nicknamed “Panthers North,” as several key Bills figures — including General Manager Brandon Beane, head coach Sean McDermott, and, as of this season, linebacker Shaq Thompson and safety Sam Franklin Jr. — are all former Panthers. Bryce Young, who left the Jets game late in the third quarter with a right ankle injury, will likely be out, giving veteran backup Andy Dalton his first start of the season.
