The 2024 Ally Tipoff returns to Spectrum Center this week with a doubleheader featuring Dawn Staley’s defending national champion South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 1) taking on the NC State Wolfpack (No. 9) in a rematch of their Final Four game from last season’s NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack will need big performances from their star guards Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers, as they’ll have their hands full with junior forward Chloe Kitts, who scored 19 points with nine boards in the season opening win against Michigan.
In the second matchup of the doubleheader, the Iowa Hawkeyes will take on the Virginia Tech Hokies at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The Hokies are coming off a dominating 99-57 win over UNC Wilmington in Megan Duffy’s first game as head coach, led by senior guard Matilda Ekh’s 18 points and nine rebounds. The Hawkeyes enter a new era without Caitlin Clark and first-year head coach Jan Jansen, the longtime assistant who succeeded Lisa Bluder after her retirement earlier this year. They’ll be led by junior forward Hannah Stuelke who averaged 14 points and 6.6 rebounds a game in the 2023-24 season.
Ally Tipoff 2024 schedule:
3:00 p.m. – NC State vs. South Carolina (ESPN)
