Charlotte’s Bechtler Museum of Modern Art celebrates its 15-year anniversary Wednesday night with activities, drink specials, music by DJ Dammit Wesley, giveaways, and their current exhibits: Clare Rojas: Past the Present and Chance Encounters: Surrealism Then and Now.
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art opened in January of 2010, as part of the Levine Center for the Arts. Designed by renowned Swiss architect Mario Botta, it’s named after the Bechtler family, and widely known for the large mosaic sculpture, The Firebird, by Niki de Saint Phalle, which has graced the entrance of the museum on Tryon since 2009. The Bechtler also hosts multiple events throughout the year, including Jazz at The Bechtler, Wednesday Night Live, and Music and Museum.
