The Hornets will host the Brooklyn Nets for the second time this season Saturday Night at Spectrum Center, splitting the season series so far with the Hornets. Brooklyn is 3-2 in their last five games, and currently sit in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Hornets enter the game on a six-game losing streak, after falling to the Washington Wizards on Friday night.
The Hornets will wear their City Edition uniforms, paired with the City Edition court. Saturday is also 704 Night, an annual Hornets tradition that celebrates the Buzz City community by showcasing the culture of North Carolina through fashion, art, and music. Game night features will include interactive activations, an artist showcase, a halftime performance by Charlotte’s Sainted Trap Choir (America’s Got Talent finalist), and more. In addition, the Hornets will give 6,000 fans a special rally towel designed by a local artist.
What to watch for:
The Nets currently rank 20th in offensive rating (113.6) and 19th in defensive rating (115.8). Brooklyn is led by sixth-year forward Mikal Bridges, who is averaging 20.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
The Hornets enter this matchup on a back-to-back, and will need to get out to a fast start, a problem highlighted by Brandon Miller in Tuesday’s postgame availability.
Nets guard Cam Thomas (ankle/foot) and center Day’Ron Sharpe (wrist) are listed as probable for Saturday’s game, while forward Cameron Johnson (ankle) is out. Ben Simmons will miss the remainder of the season as he explores options for the nerve impingement in his lower back.
For the Hornets, Bryce McGowens (knee swelling), Tre Mann (left groin strain), LaMelo Ball (right ankle), Seth Curry (right ankle), Cody Martin (left ankle), and Mark Williams (lower back) are out tonight.
