Charlotte dropped their sixth straight game on Saturday against Washington, completing a season sweep by the last-place Wizards. LaMelo Ball returned to action, scoring 20 points but committing six turnovers in the 113-110 loss. Mark Williams was the lone bright spot for the team, adding 24 points and 12 rebounds on 11-of-14 shooting. The Hornets’ lack of depth continues to hinder the team, as Washington’s bench outscored Charlotte’s 50-13 in the loss.
The Hornets will take on a hot Warriors team on Monday in Steph Curry’s annual homecoming game. The Warriors are 7-2 since acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Heat at the trade deadline. Curry dropped 56 points on Thursday against Orlando, and the Warriors are averaging 120.7 points in their last 10 games. They are coming off a loss to the Joel Embiid-less 76ers on Saturday, although they were without Butler, who is day-to-day with back spasms.
