The Hornets play the second game of their nine-game homestand Saturday night against the New Orleans Pelicans. Coming off back-to-back losses, the Hornets’ injury woes continue, as it was announced this week that Brandon Miller will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his right wrist. Without LaMelo Ball, Miles Bridges, and Seth Curry on Friday night in their 102-97 loss to the Trail Blazers, Nick Smith Jr. logged significant minutes, contributing 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Recently acquired small forward Josh Okogie also made an impact, adding 16 points and 10 rebounds in 31 minutes.
The New Orleans Pelicans are currently 12-33 and sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings at 14th. The team is led by veteran guard CJ McCollum, wing Brandon Ingram (out until at least January 31 due to an ankle injury), and South Carolina native and former Duke star Zion Williamson, who is expected to play Saturday night.
