After their biggest trade deadline day in decades, the Hornets will face Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in the final contest of a nine-game homestand. Newly acquired players Dalton Knecht, Jusuf Nurkić, and Cam Reddish will likely suit up for the Hornets (not confirmed), as they attempt to break a six-game losing streak following a 112-102 loss to the Bucks on Wednesday night.

LaMelo Ball, who is nursing a left ankle sprain, is listed as questionable, while Josh Green has been downgraded to doubtful with calf tightness. Nick Smith Jr. has been logging significant minutes in the absence of Brandon Miller, who is out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. Smith scored a career-high 24 points on Monday night against the Wizards and has averaged 22 points on 58.1% shooting (56.5% from three-point range) over his last three games.

The Spurs are coming off a blockbuster trade, acquiring De’Aaron Fox in a three-team deal that sent Zach LaVine and Sidy Cissoko to the Sacramento Kings, along with multiple first- and second-round draft picks. Fox recorded 24 points and 13 assists in his Spurs debut, winning 126-125 over the Hawks on Wednesday night. With a record of 22-26, the Spurs are currently 12th in the Western Conference standings, but are pushing to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2018-2019 season.
