Country singer-songwriter and musician Dwight Yoakam returns to Charlotte this week for the first time since 2019. Starting his music career in the mid-80s, Yoakam’s first three studio albums, Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc., Hillbilly Deluxe, and Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room, all reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country charts. A two-time Grammy Award-winner, his 1993 album, This Time, was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. Known for his blend of neotraditional country, honky-tonk, and rockabilly, he has also collaborated with artists such as Beck, John Mellencamp, and k.d. lang. As an actor, Yoakam has appeared in the films Red Rock West, Sling Blade, Panic Room, and Wedding Crashers.
The Mavericks are a Grammy Award-winning country band originally formed in Miami, known for their unique blend of country, Tex-Mex, Latin, and rockabilly styles. The band consists of members Raul Malo (vocals, guitar), Paul Deakin (drums), Eddie Perez (guitar), and Jerry Dale McFadden (keyboards). The Mavericks released a new album, Moon & Stars, on May 17 featuring Sierra Ferrell, Nicole Atkins and Maggie Rose.
