Grammy Award-winning folk/Americana duo Gillian Welch and David Rawlings return to Charlotte’s Knight Theater this week. The long-time musical partners have collaborated on nine critically acclaimed albums, with five released under Welch’s name, three under Rawlings’, and two under Gillian Welch & David Rawlings. Their 2020 collection of covers, All the Good Times (Are Past & Gone), won the Grammy for Best Folk Album, and the duo released their long-awaited new album of original material, Woodlands, on August 23 through Acony Records. The album is named after their Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, which was destroyed by a tornado in 2020, and since rebuilt.
