Before Glass Animals kick off their 40-plus city 2024 world tour, the Oxford psychedelic pop band will play an intimate show at The Underground in Charlotte (the tour also kicks off in Charlotte at PNC Music Pavilion with Kevin Abstract on August 7). The English rockers led by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Dave Bayley, released their fourth studio album, I Love You So F***ing Much, on July 19, following 2020’s Dreamland, which earned the quartet a Grammy nod for Best New Artist. This will be the first show for Glass Animals following the release of their new album (they did perform in New York for Amazon Music’s City Sessions on the release date), and a first look at their tour set.
Best known for their hits songs “Heat Wave” and “Gooey,” their new album, I Love You So F***ing Much, takes listeners on a cosmic journey through Bayley’s existential crises and pitfalls following their commercial breakout in 2020. The album, which Bayley describes to his fans as “a collection of existential love stories,” utilizes vintage synths that provide a sci-fi musical backdrop on tracks like “Creatures in Heaven” and “Show Pony.”
The tour will also make a stop in Raleigh on August 16 at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek.
