The documentary about Charlotte’s beloved music venue, The Milestone, directed by North Carolina filmmaker Jason Arthurs and journalist Liz McLaughlin, will premiere this weekend in Charlotte. The “punk rock Cinderella story” documents the 50-plus-year history of the venue, and the people who fought to keep it alive. The historic venue has seen a slew of esteemed rock icons walk through its doors including Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), Henry Rollins (Black Flag), Bo Diddley, Violent Femmes (who are featured in the documentary), the Go-Go’s, The Flaming Lips, Fugazi, Sunny Day Real Estate, and countless others.
Both originally announced screenings at The Independent Picture House and The Milestone have sold out, but they have added a third matinee show at The Milestone on Saturday, August 31 at 4 p.m.
