Indonesian jazz pianist and composer, Joey Alexander, will make his Jazz Room debut this month at Stage Door Theatre. Considered a musical prodigy, he was playing songs by ear and delving into jazz standards by the age of six.

In 2014, Wynton Marsalis invited him to play Jazz at Lincoln Center, and he released his first studio album, My Favorite Things, the following year, at the age of 11. Earning Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Instrumental Album and Best Improvised Jazz Solo, he became the youngest-ever Grammy nominee in the jazz category.

Alexander followed up with Countdown in 2016, further solidifying his reputation as a jazz virtuoso. He has performed at prestigious venues and festivals worldwide, including Newport Jazz Festival and Montreal International Jazz Festival, releasing his latest album, Continuance, through Mack Avenue in 2023.
