Resident Culture Brewing Company will host its seventh annual Lunar New Year Celebration at both Plaza Midwood and South End locations on Saturday. The event is free and will feature live performances, cultural food, crafts, and a dumpling-making class with Qian Zhang (owner of The Dumpling Lady).

For Amanda McLamb, co-founder and CEO of Resident Culture, a Chinese-American and the granddaughter of immigrants, the celebration has always been meaningful in her household: “It’s a beautiful way to bring people together and honor our traditions.”

Check out the full schedule of activities and performances at both locations:

Plaza Midwood 

12:30 p.m. – “Bringing in the New Year” book reading with Amanda McLamb and Lunar New Year craft.
1:30 p.m. – Free samples from Nana Li’s and Bang Bang Burgers (while supplies last).
2-4 p.m. – Chinese Calligraphy Performance by Miss Kang.
3 p.m. and 4 p.m. – Dumpling Making Class with Qian Zhang of The Dumpling Lady ($20 per person includes class, dumplings, and a beer). You can email at [email protected] to sign up.
3-9 p.m.: – The Cutting Board food truck will serve up Korean Hot Dogs.
6 p.m. – Lion Dance and Long Pole Performance by Thundering Wave Martial Arts.

South End

10 a.m. – 11 p.m. – The Resident Culture kitchen will serve Longevity Noodles, a traditional Chinese dish often served during Lunar New Year, known for their symbolic representation of health and a long life.
9 p.m. – Lion Dance and Long Pole Performance by Thundering Wave Martial Arts.

Specialty cocktails: Firecracker Fizz (Blood Orange Margarita), Year of the Snake (Dirty Shirley)
