In the ongoing celebration of hip hop’s 50th anniversary, Mass Appeal, the Universal Hip Hop Museum, and Cîroc are bringing a free traveling exhibit to multiple cities including Charlotte this fall. Founded in 2015 to document, preserve, and celebrate the culture of hip-hop, the 52,000-square-foot museum is scheduled to open in 2025 in South Bronx (610 Exterior Street), not far from the birthplace of hip-hop.

Ahead of the museum’s opening date, the touring exhibit will preview early hip-hop artifacts from 1973-1990, highlighting monumental moments in the genre’s history and the cultural and social impact of hip-hop.

“By taking the museum’s exhibition on tour, we’re shining a light on the culture’s regional creative influences, its creators, and the communities nationwide that helped give rise to the genre,” said Rocky Buccano, Executive Director of the Universal Hip Hop Museum.

The Hip Hop Museum Tour is the latest effort of media company Mass Appeal, who led the Hip Hop 50 initiative, a multi-faceted cross-platform campaign honoring the birth and rise of hip-hop. Mass Appeal also hosted the Hip Hop 50 Live concert in June at Yankee Stadium.

The Hip Hop Museum Tour stop will take place at Norfolk Hall in Charlotte on Saturday, November 18 and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check out all of the tour stops below, and get your free tickets for the exhibit here.
