Described by the Village Voice as “the missing link between Public Enemy and Louis Armstrong,” The Soul Rebels are an eight-piece New Orleans brass ensemble originally formed by percussionists Derrick Moss and Lumar LeBlanc. The group incorporates elements of soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, and rock within a contemporary brass band framework.

Over the years, they have worked with artists such as Nas, Metallica, GZA, Green Day, Rakim, Slick Rick, Robert Glasper, Joey Badass, Katy Perry, and many more, releasing eight studio albums, with their latest, Poetry in Motion, released in 2019.

Big Freedia is a rapper from New Orleans and a pioneer in the genre of bounce music.
