Hopscotch Music Festival announced the lineup for their ninth year in downtown Raleigh, N.C. Known in the Southeast as one of the top indie music festivals, Hopscotch curates a bill with a wide-range of acts from a multitude of different genres every September.
This year, the festival will be headlined by indie pop R&B artist Miguel, Brooklyn art rock outfit Grizzly Bear, and indie rock songstress Liz Phair. Also joining the 2018 festivities will be the multi-genre bassist extraordinaire Thundercat, Scottish indie pop band Belle & Sebastian, and Jersey rockers, Real Estate. Other notable acts include Canadian R&B duo Dvsn, Moses Sumney, The Jayhawks, Waxahatchee, Speedy Ortiz, Michael Rault, Julie Byrne, and Ought with more artists to be announced.
Hopscotch has been at the forefront of indie music in the Carolinas since its inaugural festival in 2010, and in addition to a ton of day parties and regional music showcases, this year’s lineup has a solid selection of regional acts including Mipso, Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, Boulevards, The Love Language, Zack Mexico, M8alla, and Charlotte’s Paint Fumes and Patois Counselors.
What sets Hopscotch apart from most festivals is its downtown Raleigh sprawl and the participating venues that make the experience a bit more casual than your average camping fest. City Plaza and Red Hat Ampitheatre serve as the main stages and smaller venues within walking distance give you a SXSW type feel.
With the Art of Cool, Dreamville Festival and Hopscotch all in September, it will be sure to make Raleigh a popular road trip destination for many to kick off the fall concert season.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday, May 18 at 10 a.m. Check out the full 2018 lineup and more on Hopscotch Music Festival.
