Seven-time NASCAR cup series champion Jimmie Johnson and his foundation are hosting a private charity concert featuring Concord, North Carolina’s own folk-rockers, the Avett Brothers on May 9 in Charlotte. The event will benefit the Jimmie Johnson Foundation and will be capped to 700 tickets at the Fillmore which usually holds up to 2,000. The nonprofit, founded by Johnson and his wife Chandra in 2006, focuses on funding K-12 public education supporting arts, health, wellness, language, literacy, school improvements, science and technology. Since its inception, the foundation has contributed more than $12.4 million to various organizations with over $6.3 million awarded through their Champions Grant Program.

The benefit concert will offer two options for donors who would like to attend the event and support the cause. The VIP ($500) package includes a ticket, open bar, access to VIP areas, and a parking pass, while the standard ticket ($350) includes a ticket to the concert and open bar.

In addition to the music and beverages, there will be auctions featuring experiences with Jimmie Johnson, former tennis star Andy Roddick, the Avett Brothers, and more. ESPN’s Taylor Zarzour and Marty Smith will host the evening’s festivities with more surprise celebrity guest appearances expected.
